Artist Info

I grew up in Brooklyn, a small town in southern Michigan, with my younger brother, mom, and dad. I went to school in the Columbia Central district and attended the Heart O' The Lakes UB church regularly. During high school I realized how much teachers could inspire and encourage young people so I decided to pursue a teaching career. I attended Huntington University (while it was still called Huntington College) and recieved a Bachelors Degree in Art Education. While at college I met a girl, fell in love, and soon after college we were married. She also recieved a teaching degree and had so much talent that she was offered a job after only one interview. We now live in Bristol, Indiana. I currently teach at Ligonier Elementary and work on pottery, photography, painting and graphic design whenever I have time.

Growing up my parents supported all my creative endeavors and were quite skilled at working with their hands. When he was not running a trucking company my dad was usually building things out of wood or working on other projects. My mom was a teacher's assistant and media specialist in the schools and spent her free time painting, sewing, working with stained glass, or basket weaving. Art wasn't really available to me in elementary school but I reallly started to enjoy art in middle school. In high school I continued to explore and confirm my love for art and creating. When I got to college I finally decided to declare art education as my major. This allowed me to get a broad overview of all things "art". I enjoyed just about every medium and technique but my two areas of focus were ceramics and painting. These are still two of my favorite things to do but lately I have been exploring digital photography, photo editing, and some web design.
