Find out about a new side project that I've been working on called Pottery Making Info.

Online Tools for Making Pottery and Ceramic Art

A while ago I started a little side project using Google sites and Google Custom Search. It was a tool to find pottery making information easier. It seemed to go pretty well so I decided to polish it up a bit and add a few new ideas. Now you can see a brand new pottery and ceramics site with some new tools at Pottery Making Info. Now it offers search engines, pottery feeds and a brand new design. There are some other ideas and features in the works but since it’s only a side project the going might be slow. For now it’s a place for me to learn more about how websites work and add interesting pottery resources as I find them. Some day I hope it might be a rather useful site for potters and ceramic artists.

I was walking through CVS one day and picked up one of those computer magazines that always has a list of cool apps or gadgets or sites. I noticed one of the cool sites on one of the cool lists was Photoshop.com. It mentioned that you could edit your photos online… for free! Of course I was interested since the school I work for probably doesn’t have the extra $ to buy me a copy of Photoshop and a computer decent enough to run it. For Pete’s sake, we barely have enough to keep the toner cartridges stocked. So anyway, I decided to check it out.

I created myself an account and in minutes I had uploaded a few pictures and was trying out the editing tools. They don’t seem to be quite as advanced as even my older version of Photoshop I have at home but it will definitely be adequate for getting photos ready for this very blog or working with some photos for school. In fact, the pictures in my last post were enhanced and resized using this nifty site.

So I’ve discoverd that it’s pretty easy to upload photos and you can store up to 2 GB for free. The tools are pretty smooth but basic compared to the full version of Photoshop. The layout is pretty slick and you can make your own galleries and view other people’s photos. If you feel like checking it out click here.
