Decorating the Clay Studio

I recently noticed how uninspiring my clay studio was and decided to spruce it up a little.  I found a few old posters I’ve had since college and found some pictures of pottery that I like (mostly on the internet).  I slapped them up on my walls and all of a sudden I feel much [...]

Studio Improvements

Over the past few weeks I’ve been working on improving my clay studio here and there.  I put in a few more shelves and cleaned the whole thing not too long ago.  Below you should be able to see a few pictures of the new set up.  I rearranged the glazing area and added a [...]

Photo Booth for Shooting Ceramics

Here is my biggest project from Christmas Break.  I wanted a place to photograph some of my more appealing ceramic items.  I started thinking and designing a few months ago.  When Christmas Break finally rolled around I put my plan into action.  Since I don’t have large quantities of empty space I decided to make it collapsible.  You can [...]

Small Clay Studio Upgrades

Last weekend I was hard at work in the studio.  I not only made a few small clay pieces, I also improved the studio a little bit.  I got tired of walking all over to get a bat when I was ready to throw so I upgraded my wheel table to include a bat holder.  [...]

My clay studio is really taking shape now. A few weeks ago I had some family members come down to hang drywall and finish some electrical work. My dad and grandpa and I hung the drywall and my brother wired some outlets and some more lights. Thanks guys! Here are some photos of the inside [...]

The Clay Studio

Last weekend was a great weekend. My race medals hit the market AND my dad and brother finally made it down to help me start building a clay studio. The plan, in a nutshell, is to put up some dividing walls in the basement and add more light and electricity. Here is what the “clay [...]

The Cart

A couple weeks ago I received my kiln which was shipped on a wooden pallet. Of course, since I’m so resourceful (and cheap) I decided not to throw away or burn such a great collection of wood, I decided to turn it into something useful. And the way I have my kiln room (garage) set [...]

The Test Fire

The kiln is up and running! I fired it up last Sunday to see what it could do and I wasn’t dissappointed. I did a Fast Glaze fire to cone 06. It took exactly 4 hours from start to shut off. Then I let it cool overnight. According to the test cones it overfired slightly. [...]
